Yoga and Mindfulness Workshop:
Practices for Resilience during Challenging Times
TBD
Meetings will be held via Zoom. Please note: this workshop is limited to 12 participants to allow for dialogue and the opportunity to create community while we practice yoga and mindfulness together.
The practice of yoga and mindfulness can provide relief for anxiety symptoms such as difficulty focusing, rumination, physical discomfort, and sleep disruption. Getting the body moving with yoga and practicing mindfulness can help to calm the nervous system, stem the stream of anxious thoughts, promote relaxation, and provide a greater sense of overall wellbeing. Practicing yoga and mindfulness can help us be with what is, surf the waves of difficult emotions, boost our resilience, and cultivate a sense of calm and self-compassion. Practicing with others helps us remember our interconnectedness and common humanity. These weekly classes are intended to be a space for self-reflection and self-care and to support your ability to establish healthy routines.
Pre-registration is required. Please call Carey for an introductory conversation to see if this workshop is a good fit for you: (206) 200-2173.
About the Instructor:
Carey DeMartini (she/her) is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Board Certified Art Therapist, and Registered Yoga Teacher with 20 years of experience facilitating yoga, art, and mindfulness workshops. She credits mindfulness and yoga for helping her maintain perspective when life turns upside down.
Please note: While this is not a therapy group, it is therapeutic in nature and would be a supportive complement if you are currently working with a therapist. All are welcome: no prior experience with yoga and/or mindfulness is necessary.
Listening Mothers Group
This group is most often a deeply meaningful space for Mothers that is built around a curriculum of self-compassion, attachment & bonding theory, mindfulness practices and most importantly the shared wisdom from the group of Mothers. It is a rare space for Mothers to share and listen to one another in a supportive and non-judgmental space that welcomes the unique and universal discoveries that each parent is going through. The group includes discussions, mindfulness practice, sharing of wisdom from the women in the group, ritual and poetry. While it is not a therapy group, the group is therapeutic in nature.
