Regarding billing: I am an out-of-network provider, which means that I am not paneled with any insurance companies. I can provide an invoice or “superbill” for clients to submit to insurance companies though I cannot guarantee that your insurance company will provide reimbursement. Every insurance plan is different, and I recommend you inquire with your insurance company to learn if they will provide reimbursement and if so, what steps need to be taken and what limits apply to reimbursement. Some questions to ask your insurance company include: What are my outpatient behavioral/mental health benefits? What is my deductible? How many sessions are covered per year? How much does my plan cover for out-of-network outpatient care?

No Surprises Act and Good Faith Estimates (new law enacted on 1/1/22)
You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost.
Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services.
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services.
You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service and will be provided upon scheduling and/or as requested. This Good Faith Estimate does not include any unexpected costs that might arise during treatment.
Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least one business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call Carey DeMartini (she/her) at (206) 200-2173.
